1. INTRODUCTION During the past decade several conferences on paediatric education in undergraduate, graduate and post-gxaduate phases have been held by the World. Health Orgmization ana by national paeaatric societies. Conclusions have dlffered slightly but there has been remarkable agreement on the principles unüerlying good paediatric teaching programmes. T t i s not expected that at a i s seminai- new principles or entirely new ideas w l U emerge; the main purpose w i l l be to explore ways and means by which those already established and widely accepted can be impïemented i n medical schools of the Region, in the ÜLtimaLe interest of future medical graduates working in the general heaLth semices, and the chiltiren whose healfh ana welfare are their responsibility. The purpose of thfs working paper m i & t be rephrased thus: How can we project recent progress In paediatrlc education inta the structure and content of medical curricula to the ultimate beaefit of the medical staffs in general health seWces of the region.
