Excerpt
Excerpt: It is arguable that the rubber industry uses a greater variety of chemicals than any other single sector of industry. For instance, well over a thousand different raw materials, other than the polymers themselves, are currently listed for use by my company. Furthermore, because a great many of the rocesses used by the industry cannot easily be automated these chemicals cannot be handled in closed systems. For these reasons, it is vitally important that the industry monitors very closely the materials which it is using, not only in the sense of knowing what they are, and what impurities are present in them, but also in knowing how much of these materials are present in the factory atmosphere.
