1. INTRODUCTION The terms of reference of the Joint Committee, accepted by the governing bodies of FA0 and WHO, have been quoted in earlier reports, but can usefully be repeated here. They are as follows : (1) to advise the Directors-General of FA0 and WHO in the problems of nutrition which might receive the attention of the two organizations and to assist in co-ordinating their respective programmes in this field; and (2) to advise either Director-General or both on any technical problems concerned with nutrition which they may submit to it.
