Dear Secretary: Please accept this comment letter on behalf of the North American Securities Administrators Association, Inc. (NAsAA)'. NASAA appreciates the opportunity to comment on this very important issue of privacy of consumer financial information. In light of the growing consolidation and affiliation among the various industries and entities that offer financial services to consumers, the sharing of consumer financial information among such entities is going to increase and can be lucrative when sold to nonaffiliated entities. In many respects, a conflict can develop. The sharing of such information may be helpful and efficient for consumers, but such sharing could also result in unwanted access to personal information.
