Excerpt
Excerpt: The present paper deals with population registries and other record resources for epidemiologic cancer research studies in the United States and Japan. During the past 15 years, I worked as a cancer epidemiologist, half of the time in the United States and the other half in Japan. Therefore, I may be in a better position to evaluate and compare the record systems between the two countries. The record systems in each country have both advantages and disadvantages in regard to uses for epidemiologic cancer research studies. Based primarily on my own experience, 1 wish to compare the record systems between the U.S. and Japan.
