Clare of Assisi : A Living Flame of Love

By: John Desmond O'Brien

I used the image of Paul Simon's "Dangling Conversation". This expresses the way we so often fail to meet each other or God. Clare, by her openness, came to know God and in her spiritual friendship brought others into that space where they could find God and themselves. A new conversation was opened up between God and the broken....

Why You Should Love God

By: Stephanie Angelini

People often debate whether there is a God. This to-the-point essay delves into an even more important topic: Why you should love God. It includes five compelling reasons (1. It's what you were made for, 2. You need it, 3. He loves you, 4. He is worth it and you can trust him, and 5. You will regret that you didn't) as well as a sixth section on ways to get to know God, as well as a list of resources....

Does God exist? It is a question every person is faced with. However, the real question is not whether God is. Even the devil knows that God exists. The question that matters is not, “Do I believe in God?” but “Do I love Him?” The following pages lay out several reasons why everyone should love him. Knowing the love of God - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit - and loving our fellow human beings through that love, is what every person was made for. It is what you were made for. It is your birthright and your destiny. Whatever you believe now, you deserve to know this truth, even if it is a truth that is often ridiculed, buried, and ignored. Christ suffered, died and rose again so that we might know the truth and he instituted the Catholic Church as the place where the truth is to be found. ...

С дух и истина [In Spirit and in Truth]

By: Александър Лашков [Alexander Lashkov]

Self Realization : Gnani Purush Dadashri

By: Shuddha Anami, Translator

Have you ever wondered 'Who am I?' in all this that happens and is happening in this life? Who are you, really? Are you really this body-mind complex. Knowing who you really are is Self realization. Self realization helps one become free from the problems of the mind and the body in daily life....

If one has attained eternal bliss, and when the worldly pains do not affect him, then he has become free. Permanent bliss (param anand), is verily called liberation (moksha). What is the use of any other liberation? We want happiness. Do you like happiness or not? Tell me that. Questioner: All the struggles are for that only. Dadashri: Yes, you do not like that temporary happiness. Unhappiness (pain) follows this temporary happiness (pleasure); that is why one does not like it. If the happiness is permanent then unhappiness does not follow. One needs such happiness. When one attains such happiness; that is called moksha. What is the meaning of liberation? It is when one remains unaffected by any worldly pains; that verily is called liberation. Otherwise no one will remain unaffected by unhappiness....

Teachings on Being : The Holy Book of Religious Leaders, Followers, and Non-Believers

By: CS Tapu

Every religion has its story - oral or written. CS Tapu searches the story above and beyond any particular religion - the very quest for Being. A quintessential religious book, these original Teachings are the fruit of millennia of religious thought and practice. While some present or future believers (or religious leaders) might not agree with all of them, the Teachings will surely provide valuable insight for the spiritual beings of believers and non-believers alike. "Tapu is a pioneer that generations will follow." --Dr. Lisa Christiansen...

"There is only one religion: the religion of peace, love, hope, and good will. The religion of helping hands."

С дух и истина [In Spirit and in Truth]

By: Александър Лашков [Alexander Lashkov]

Hinduism Today : Bhutan's Hindu Refugees, Volume January/February/March 2010: Bhutan's Hindu Refugees

By: Various

The January-February-March, 2010 is unusually rich in compelling and enlightening articles. So, what's inside that so rich? 1. The 21st century's first major Hindu migration It's a little-know story, full of bad policies, forced resettlements, decades of right denied and spirits not broken. Follow the whole tale as some 60,000 Hindus, chased out of their native Bhutan, end up in refugee camps in Nepal for 19 years. Finally, they are offered a permanent home in the USA and elsewhere. Their arrival is seen as a major and positive event that will enrich Hinduism. Their challenges in the US are monumental, but after what they have been through one senses they will thrive, if Hindu communities continue to help them. 2. The mystical power of giving "Giving has the power to draw spiritual fulfillment and wealth into your life," explains publisher Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami in his editorial. He shares with us mystical laws about giving...

Between the lines. Vol 1: an analytical appreciation of the Buddha's life : Http://dawningofdhamma.com

By: Sylvia Bay

Some 2500 years ago in ancient Northeast India, a young, brilliant and courageous man discovered the sublime answer to how the mind works and how to realise unconditioned happiness and bliss. For the next 45 years, he devoted his life to teaching the doctrine that helped bring unparalleled happiness, peace and relief to numerous people long after his death. In time stories began to emerge proclaiming his greatness and his near-divinity status. Over generations and into distant lands, those stories took on a life of their own. Eventually the real man is buried under a mountain of beautiful fantasies and magical tales. Scholars in Buddhist studies have never lost sight of the historical Buddha. There is a beautiful story to tell about the real man but the materials never quite made it to the mass market because academic books are generally hard to read and appreciate. This book seeks to bring the historical Buddha back into the popular psyche. That story is as intriguing, and is perhaps even more inspiring than the best fantasy story that had ever been woven....

“Go now and wander for the welfare and happiness of many, out of compassion for the world, for the benefit, welfare and happiness of gods and men. There are beings with little dust in their eyes who will be lost through not hearing the Dhamma. Some will understand the Dhamma.”...

For Those Who Call for Light : Learning How to Think About Religion: Learning How to Think About Religion

By: Dennis Leroy Stilwell

Learning how to think about religion. Accounting for religious experience and the esoteric spiritual process in our thinking about "God" and the Greater Reality....

Reality Is. Religion is what we make it. Reality Is, prior to mind. Religion is what we make it, with the mind. Religion without experience in the Greater Reality is often worthy of criticism. But that criticism misses the point. Such religion, rightly engaged, is, as we have seen, only a foundation. Without experience in the Greater Reality neither the atheist nor the religionist has the genuine discrimination to either criticize the other or defend him or herself, for each is left with only the thinking mind and limited experience with which to understand the other—and thinking mind and limited experience are, in themselves, inadequate for the task...
