Franklin D. Roosevelt - “The public library is a nation’s act of believing in the capacity of its own people so to learn from the past that they can gain in judgement in creating their own future.” The traditional library is changing, fast. Paper books, and the multi-level structures that house them, are becoming a thing of the past while digital books, eBooks, pave the way for a new future of instant, worldwide accessibility to knowledge. The World Public Library is at the forefront of this movement. I. History A. Purpose of the Library 1. Origins Hi, I’m Mia with the World Public Library and I would like to invite you on a journey through the library’s past present and future. Along the way we will explore what has made the library such a unique and important place historically and what the World Public Library is doing today to make the library more useful and vital than ever before. Bialgebraic Structures and Smarandache Bialgebraic Structures

By: W. B. Vasantha Kandasamy

The study of bialgebraic structures started very recently. Till date there are no books solely dealing with bistructures. The study of bigroups was carried out in 1994-1996. Further research on bigroups and fuzzy bigroups was published in 1998. In the year 1999, bivector spaces was introduced. In 2001, concept of free De Morgan bisemigroups and bisemilattices was studied. It is said by Zoltan Esik that these bialgebraic structures like bigroupoids, bisemigroups, binear rings help in the construction of finite machines or finite automaton and semi automaton. The notion of non-associative bialgebraic structures was first introduced in the year 2002. The concept of bialgebraic structures which we define and study are slightly different from the bistructures using category theory of Girard's classical linear logic. We do not approach the bialgebraic structures using category theory or linear logic....

Some Smarandache Problems

By: Mladen Vassilev Missana and Krassimir Atanassov

During the five years since publishing, we have obtained many new results related to the Smarandache problems. We are happy to have the opportunity to present them in this book for the enjoyment of a wider audience of readers. The problems in Chapter two have also been solved and published separately by the authors, but it makes sense to collate them here so that they can be better seen in perspective as a whole, particularly in relation to the problems elucidated in Chapter one. Many of the problems, and more especially the techniques employed in their solution, have wider applicability than just the Smarandache problems, and so they should be of more general interest to other mathematicians, particularly both professional and amateur number theorists....

Gol-Gol Games - The Trainer's Guide : A Game of Drawing Circles - The guide for parents/ teachers/ facilitators, Volume 1

By: Surajit Basu; Manjushree Nanda

While your child will enjoy doing Gol-Gol Games, you as the parent/ teacher/ facilitator may need to figure out how to guide your child through Gol-Gol Games, or play the game with your child. This is a useful companion book to Gol-Gol Games Volume 1, designed to help you guide the child, while both of you have fun....

We are trying to use the “Socratic” method, as in asking questions and letting children think about the answers. We suggest you allow children to think and write the answers. Try not to draw either the objects or the circles for the child. Try to avoid suggesting techniques and methods of thinking. Children can develop their own ways of thinking. Less help in finding answers is a good thing for children! It makes them think. More time in finding answers is a very good thing for children! It makes them think without pressure. Read a book while the child draws. Relax....

This book is a universal dictionary of arts and sciences. It contains the definitions of the terms in several arts, liberal and mechanical, and also several sciences. Encyclopedie is was a translation of "Cyclopaedia" into French. As Diderot translated the book, he came up with the idea that it should not be limited to just the arts and science but every branch of knowledge that should be learned by man. It was a project that was 20 years in the making before it was finally completed....

Crafts for Senior Citizens : A Two Year Long, Ready to Use Program

By: Christine Anderson

This book is designed to provide a two year craft program that can be easily implemented at senior centers. Because a large amount of craft preparation needs to be done before the craft can be taken to a senior citizens home, the book is ideal for large groups. It is composed mainly of paper crafts, as they are relatively inexpensive and easy to make. All of the crafts have been taught successfully at senior citizen homes. Though it was written to be used with seniors, the crafts are great for people of any age....

Working with the Senior Citizens: For those of you who have never before worked with senior citizens, here are some tips to keep in mind. Remember to:  Speak loudly and clearly --many of them are hard of hearing --if they don’t respond to a question, chances are they couldn’t hear you, so ask again  Offer to assist them on each step, if need be, do the entire project for them --many of them have arthritis or limited mobility in their hands  Ask them for their name and about their day --most enjoy talking to young people☺  Compliment them or their project  Let them choose the colors they want to use on their project...

Research on Number Theory and Smarandache Notions : Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Number Theory and Smarandache Notions

By: Florentin Smarandache; Zhang Wenpeng, Editor

This book contains 23 papers, most of which were written by participants to the fifth International Conference on Number Theory and Smarandache Notions held in Shangluo University, China, in March, 2009. In this Conference, several professors gave a talk on Smarandache Notions and many participants lectured on them both extensively and intensively. All these papers are original and have been refereed. The themes of these papers range from the mean value or hybrid mean value of Smarandache type functions, the mean value of some famous number theroretic functions acting on the Smarandache sequences, to the convergence property of some infinite series involving the Smarandache type sequences. ...

3. Remarks Sandor [2] has considered the problem of finding the S-perfect and completely S-perfect numbers, but his proof is not complete. He has proved that the only S-perfect of the form n = p q is n = 6 and there is no S-perfect number of the form n = 2kq where k ¸ 2 is an integer and q is an odd prime. On the other hand, Theorem 2.1 gives all the S-perfect numbers. Again, Sandor only proved that, the only completely S-perfect number of the form n = p2q is n = 28, and all completely S-perfect numbers are given by Theorem 2.2. Theorem 2.1 and Theorem 2.2 ¯nd respectively the S-perfect and completely S-perfect numbers when S(1) = 1. The situation is quite different if one adopts the convention that S(0) = 1. In the latter case, as has been proved by Gronas [3], all completely S-perfect numbers are n = p(prime), 9, 16, 24. All that is known about the S-perfect numbers is that, among the ¯rst 106 numbers, n = 12 is the only S-perfect number (see Ashbacher [4]). In exactly the same way, the Z-perfect and completely Z-perfect numbers may be defined. Thus, given an integer n, 1. ...

Erasure Techniques in MRD Codes

By: Florentin Smarandache; W. B. Vasantha Kandasamy

In this book the authors study the erasure techniques in concatenated Maximum Rank Distance (MRD) codes. The authors for the first time in this book introduce the new notion of concatenation of MRD codes with binary codes, where we take the outer code as the RD code and the binary code as the inner code....

We want to find efficient algebraic methods to improve the realiability of the transmission of messages. In this chapter we give only simple coding and decoding algorithms which can be easily understood by a beginner. Binary symmetric channel is an illustration of a model for a transmission channel. Now we will proceed onto define a linear code algebraically....

During my research period in the Summer of 2012 at the Research Institute of Extenics and Innovation Methods, from Guangdong University of Technology, in Guangzhou, China, I have introduced the Linear and Non-Linear Attraction Point Principle and the Network of Attraction Curves, have generalized the 1D Extension Distance and the 1D Dependent Function to 2D, 3D, and in general to n-D Spaces, and have generalized Qiao-Xing Li’s and Xing-Sen Li’s definitions of the Location Value of a Point and the Dependent Function of a Point on a Single Finite Interval from one dimension (1D) to 2D, 3D, and in general n-D spaces. Then I used the Extenics, together with Victor Vlădăreanu, Mihai Liviu Smarandache, Tudor Păroiu, and Ştefan Vlăduţescu, in 2D and 3D spaces in technology, philosophy, and information theory....

Combinatorial Geometry with Applications to Field Theory : Second Edition

By: Linfan Mao

In The 2nd Conference on Combinatorics and Graph Theory of China (Aug. 16-19, 2006, Tianjing), I formally presented a combinatorial conjecture on mathematical sciences (abbreviated to CC Conjecture), i.e., a mathematical science can be reconstructed from or made by combinatorialization, implicated in the foreword of Chapter 5 of my book Automorphism groups of Maps, Surfaces and Smarandache Geometries (USA, 2005). This conjecture is essentially a philosophic notion for developing mathematical sciences of 21st century, which means that we can combine different fields into a union one and then determines its behavior quantitatively. It is this notion that urges me to research mathematics and physics by combinatorics, i.e., mathematical combinatorics beginning in 2004 when I was a post-doctor of Chinese Academy of Mathematics and System Science. It finally brought about me one self-contained book, the first edition of this book, published by InfoQuest Publisher in 2009. This edition is a revisited edition, also includes the development of a few topics discussed in the first edition....

1.5 ENUMERATION TECHNIQUES 1.5.1 Enumeration Principle. The enumeration problem on a finite set is to count and find closed formula for elements in this set. A fundamental principle for solving this problem in general is on account of the enumeration principle: For finite sets X and Y , the equality |X| = |Y | holds if and only if there is a bijection f : X → Y . Certainly, if the set Y can be easily countable, then we can find a closed formula for elements in X....

The Real Value of Communication : Experience our game changing scenario: Mainz — Hometown of Johannes Gutenberg and hometown of the culture of communication

By: Mrs. Şükran Ceren Salalı; Andreas Boris Weber

• A very unique ValueArt+Com project. Composed in Mainz/Germany, the hometown of Johannes Gutenberg and the hometown of the culture of communication. • Dedicated to all of us, to become or to keep smart communicators! • The iBook publishing process for iPad will start soon. Via gutenberg.org you could have a preview (without animations and videos, for sure!). Background „The moment I have prepared the scenario for my research project, I wanted it to be something entertaining but serious to provide an effective scientific learning about the real value of communication via experiencing a beautiful city; Mainz as a cultural center of communication. As a Sociology student from Bogazici University, Istanbul, I have created this iBook with a professional analyst, Andreas Weber, in order to showcase the interviews, blog posts and researches we have created as a content for Value Art+Communication Project as a part of my official work in Value Communication AG, Mainz.“ About the iBook It is all about art and culture as key issues of communication! — The German city Mainz is situated in Rheinland-Pfalz state with a rich c...

“Johannes Gutenberg was our first geek, the original technology entrepreneur, who had to grapple with all the challenges a Silicon Valley startup faces today.” —Jeff Jarvis (Introduction by
Şükran Ceren Salalı, Value Art+Communication Fellow, Istanbul) I always enjoy meeting new people from various countries and different perspectives as a Sociology student from Turkey. After doing my AFS Exchange Program in Belgium and getting involved in an international peace project in the Netherlands, I said “why not to apply the Erasmus internship program which gives an opportunity to work in different European countries for 3 months”. The city of Mainz was a kind of un-existing place for me a few months ago. I have never heard the name of this beautiful city when I was in Turkey. I think, and also what I have heard so far, when it comes to speaking about Germany, is that most of the people from other countries only know; cities like Berlin, Frankfurt, or Nürnberg, but not Mainz. When I have arrived here to start my Erasmus internship in an international research and publishing company, Value Communication AG in where I get the chan...
