Sayyid Ahmad was among the foremost visionaries who realized the scale of British conspiracies and diplomacies, and launched a systemic struggle to counter the effects. He communicated with political figureheads of that time to make them realize of British intrusion. He also worked for social reformation of Muslim communities in far-off places in subcontinent. We see from the life of Sayyid Ahmed that he disrupted the status quo of society at various levels. He was not a passive preacher or a Sufi living in isolation. He not only challenged the oppressors but also the oppressed. For this he faced opposition from both. When Sayyid Ahmed stepped out to reform socio-religious thought in India, that included matters related to general ignorance of basic tenets of Islam, sufi ideologies and pilgrimage; he met with resistance from those “internal” agents whose interest relied on the then state of affairs. Similarly, when he refused to compromise with the political hostility of colonizers and their allies, he faced challenges. This makes the study of his movement a very special case in history of South Asia. A keen researcher thus needs to understand the context of every comment that is placed in favor or opposition of Sayyid Ahmed. الكتاب الذي بين يديك (الوثائق الرسمية لثورة الإمام الحسين عليه السلام)، فكرة سنحت لي في أيام محرم من سنة 1391 هـ، وهي أيام ذكرى استشهاده عليه السلام، فأحببت أن اكتب بحثاً عن أبي الضيم، سبط الرسول الأعظم وريحانته، وحبيب قلبه، فعزمت على الأمر بعد التوكل على الله وأخذت أبحث في بطون كتب التواريخ، وأسجل ما يتعلق بثورة الإمام الحسين عليه السلام، وثيقة إثر وثيقة، وبينما كنت أدوّن تلك الوثائق، كانت دموعي تسبق قلمي حين يكتب حروف كلماتها، لِما في ذلك من المصائب والمحن والآلام التي حلّت بالسبط الشهيد وعترته وأصحابه. وفي ليلة من تلكم الليالي التي كنت مشغولا بتسطير الوثائق دبّ النعاس إلى جفوني فغلبني النوم، إذ أرى نفسي في عالم الرؤيا وكأنّ الكتاب قد طبع، وأنا أهدي نسخة منه للإمام الحسين الشهيد عليه السلام في حين أن الكتاب لم يزل في مرحلة التأليف. وحين أفقت من النوم انتابتني فرحة ممزوجة بالبكاء في نفس الوقت، لمّا قد علمت أنّه قد يكون موضع قبول ورضى الله تعالى ورسوله والسبط العظيم، فزادتني هذه الرؤيا عزماً على إكمال تأليفه وكتابة وثائقه، ومن ثم طبعه فوراً في العراق في تلك السنة، وهي الطبعة الأولى. وبعد إكمال تأليفه، حيث طبع الكتاب ولم يوزع للمكتبات بعد، أخذت نسخةً منه وذهبت بها إلى كربلاء المقدسة، لحرم ريحانة رسول الله، مخاطباً إياه أن يتقبل هذ...

هذا الكتابُ يضمّ في طياّته ثلاثة فصول وروضة وثمانية مطالب، تتعرض هذه الفصول والمطالب إلى بيان عمره الشريف وألقابه وكناه، ومعرفة أولاده وذكر شهادته، وكيفية زواجه من سيدة نساء العالمين عليها السلام ويستطيع القارئ الكريم أن يقف على الآيات النازلة بحقه وبحق الأئمة من ولده ، وهناك فصول أخرى تطلع القارئ الكريم على معجزاته وسجاياه وكمال صفاته، ويحتوي هذا الكتابُ القيّم ذكر فضل الشيعة وشرفهم وصفاتهم لاسيمّا السادات منهم، وأيضاً يجد الباحث عن الحقيقة فضل زيارة قبور الأئمة الطاهرين صلوات الله عليهم أجمعين، فنأمل أن يوفق الجميع لمزيد من العلم والخدمة....

ومما يوضح عدم إمكانية حصر فضائل ومعجزات وكرامات الإمام أمير المؤمنين هذا الحوار الذي دار بين ابن عباس وبين من سأله مندهشاً قال: سبحان الله ما أكثر مناقب عليّ وفضائله، وإني لأحسبها ثلاثة آلاف. فأجابه ابن عباس: أولا تقول إنها الى ثلاثين ألفاً أقرب؟ لله درّه ما أذكاه وألبقه حين أحسّ الدهشة في الرجل أزاء كثرة مناقب الإمام حتى ظنّ أنه أكبر عدد يضرب به المثل في الكثرة إنما هو ثلاثة آلاف ذهولا منه كما يروى فيه، فأراد ابن عباس أن يطمئن الرجل ويفرغ من روعه، ثم لبعث الهمة فيه ويرقى به إلى ما لم لم يكن يعرفه من أرقام وحساب حين قال في جوابه: أولا تقول أنها الى ثلاثين ألفاً أقرب ؟...

I’m standing behind the front bench, a fish-tank on the right, my trusty assistant John on the left. Grabbing a large goldfish from the tank, I stuff it in my mouth, and swallow. It’s wiggly and a somewhat gritty, but down she goes. Just takes concentration, and a little practice. The girls start screaming. A few break for the door. When things settle down we all leave. Seems nobody’s too keen on lunch. The next day, McDonald puts a sign on the fish-tank. Please Do Not Eat The Fish Just a minute. What really happened here? Nope, there was no slight of hand.
