Introduction: Because many carcinogens are organotropic and because surrogate tissues may not necessarily reflect the events occurring in the target organ, the development of noninvasive techniques to monitor carcinogen-DNA adducts in internal organs is a priority (1-4). This report describes the development and application of noninvasive methods to monitor carcinogen-DNA adducts in the human urinary bladder, atarget organ for tobacco-induced cancers.
